I’m so excited to share these stunning fall maternity photos! It was such a treat to work with Emilee, she is the cutest and made our session so fun. She reached out about halfway through her pregnancy to see if we could take some maternity photos, and I am so glad we did! They turned out beautifully.
When Emilee and I first chatted, one of her requests was that her location had desert vibes with a body of water. I knew just the spot! We settled on Phon D Sutton Recreation Area just outside of Mesa. It might not sound like anything too fancy, but it’s actually one of my favorite locations in the valley. It has so much color and variety, from the desert mountains to the beautiful Salt River to the rocky landscape. I love taking all kinds of photos here, but it was perfect for this maternity session!
During our time together, Emilee was down for whatever adventure would get her the best photos. It was so much fun! We were able to get all kinds of gorgeous shots– at one point she even waded into the freezing river. She did it all with a smile on her face! We leaned into the boho-desert vibes for this session and Emilee came dressed accordingly. Her beautiful rust-colored dress (from Baltic Born) looked incredible against the landscape and showed off her bump perfectly.
Maternity photos are some of the most special pictures that I offer. I love giving moms the spotlight! Moms go through so much while they’re pregnant, and they deserve time to get dressed up and celebrate everything they’ve sacrificed. Especially during a season where big changes are on the horizon, it’s so important to be able to slow down and enjoy where you’re at. In my opinion, photos are the best way to be intentional and live in the moment. I adore all of the sessions I shoot, but maternity ones have a special place in my heart for sure.
This session with Emilee and her husband was so wonderful, and the pictures turned out perfect. Even several months later, these photos are still some of my favorite ones in my portfolio.
